About Zvartnots Intl. Airport

Zvartnots International Airport was built in the city of Yerevan in 1961 by the Soviet Union and today is the main international airport of Armenia. In the 1980s, with the increase in demand of domestic flights within the Soviet Union, the airport was renovated with a new passenger terminal area. In 1990 Armenia declared independence which lead to a significant increase in cargo shipments which resulted in the construction of a new cargo terminal in 1998 at Zvartnots International Airport. In 2001 the airport was privatized and in 2004 renovation and expansion works were initiated and by 2007 a new international terminal started to operate. An average of 2 million passengers travel annually from Zvartnots International Airport, which has three terminal buildings.

Getting to the City Center from Zvartnots Intl. Airport
