Torun is a city located in the north of Poland, on the Vistula River. The famous scientist Nicolaus Copernicus was born in this medieval city. The population of the city is 203,000 and 40,000 of the population are students. Torun was one of the important trade centers of Poland in the Middle Ages. It was even called the Krakow of the North. Torun, which is one of the best preserved historical monument cities of Poland, is also the most important and crowded tourist destination.

The Old Town Market, which is located in the center of the city and the oldest historical area of Torun, was the center of administration and trade for centuries. Today, the Old Town which is home to many majestic and gothic structures as well as museums and churches, is the most important tourist attraction of the city. The city also takes much attention with its jewelry stores, art galleries, historical cellars and delicious dishes. The closest airport to Torun is Bydgoszcz which is located 50 kilometers away.
