About Kumbakonam

Kumbakonam, which is a temple town in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu in South India, takes its name from a Hindu god. The city, which is located between the Cauvery River and Arasalar River, has been the capital of the temples since the 7th century AD and has been under the sovereignty of South India since the Middle Ages.
