About Cesme

Çeşme is one of Turkey's most visited holiday resorts with its beaches on the Aegean Sea coast, authentic atmosphere and the accommodation options suitable for every budget. Çeşme, located within the boundaries of Çeşme Peninsula, is named after the numerous fountains in the region. It is thought that Çeşme, with its history dating back to the First Age periods, was probably founded in the 1000s BC. It is really a very different feeling to walk in the historical stone streets of Çeşme that take you to a journey in time. There are innumerable alternatives to accommodation in Çeşme, which is also known as "Ildırı" in the Kitab-i Bahriye of Piri Reis. Alaçatı, known as the princes of Izmir, is, of course, the most visited part of Çeşme. Famous for its colourful stone houses and boutique hotels, Alaçatı is also home to international windsurfing competitions.

It can be said that Çeşme has a rich and diverse culinary culture with Alaçatı Ot (Grass) Festival visited by thousands of local and foreign tourists and many other events organized every year. Seafood is also offered at the seaside restaurants in Çeşme, one of the best places you can experience the delicious Aegean cuisine, which is rich in olive oil dishes and greenery.

You have to go to İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport first to reach Çeşme, which is 87 kilometres (1 hour driving distance) away from the centre of Izmir. From Adnan Menderes Airport you can reach Fahrettin Altay by Izban and Eshot buses and get on the Çeşme buses from here. Another option is to use direct intercity buses to İzmir Çeşme.
